The lights out book tour continues late July 22- August 1 with a grand tour of Michigan. For those of you that have read the book you know about being born a blue-collar kid in Detroit and watching the city go to hell in a handbag over 50 years from a front row AAA seat - experiencing some of the craziest crap in anyone's life. The city is now experiencing a major Renaissance which will be great to witness with the 12- and 15-year-old kids in tow as a 66-year-old single dad. It’s gonna be a great homecoming seeing people from childhood, high school and Michigan State University together with other dear friends.

Taking my kids to the 1200 square-foot crackerjack house where I was raised and celebrated my first paycheck from doing the dirty work at a burger joint at age 15, seeing grandparents' gravesites, many roads bicycled and the church of the rockstar altar boy augmenting stories from the book will be part of a kids legacy.

We will cover all of metro Detroit - Belle Isle, Downtown, The Motown Museum, Woodward Avenue, Greenfield Village and The Ford Factory tour and if you have friends there (of course You'll come!) , hook them up to our Events at the website and have them come out to 2 great Barnes & Noble events, a Schuler’s Bookstore event and party stops in Royal Oak and Grand Rapids.

Royal Oak is the town where during moi's 5th birthday the world witnessed the Kennedy assassination on a black-and-white TV what rocked it and threw this young man into a world of Camelot where in Dallas years later the stories of intersections with JFK, Jack Ruby and Oswald are surreal. Everybody remembers where they were.

The 10-day book tour blast departs Detroit Metro and passes through East Lansing, Michigan popping into Michigan State University, where with 65,000 other crazy kids in 1980 your amigo somehow survived. The stories in the book of college daze living on a shoestring or less, bear no resemblance to the ostentatious lifestyles of college students of this day. Wrapping up in Grand Rapids with bookstore hang and after party and hitting the beaches of Western Michigan to cool off will wrap it up. They call it all PURE MICHIGAN and we will call it PURE JOY!.
